With the recent “leak” of a monumental Supreme Court decision, I`ve heard arguments that the Supreme Court should be more transparent so the public would have more trust in the highest court in the land. But I`ve also heard arguments that the Court`s work should be kept guarded to avoid any untoward influence. After gathering the facts, I usually take a rather definitive side in these types of arguments. But I`m really torn on this one. Should the Court`s work be available for the world to see? It is disturbing to me that the Court seemingly made up its mind in April on a case that affects so many people`s rights but is now sitting on that decision until the end of its term in June. If, as the leaked draft suggests, this case of such importance, then why wait months to release the opinion?
Anyone else have some input on this??
